Yes, papaya is not only the tasty fruit you eat in the summer, it is also a system developed by ESN to connect students of the host university with students coming from abroad, based on similar paths of study, compatible interests and hobbies, and other parameters. 

But the Buddy is not just a new friendship, it will become your staple here in Parma. If you need any information, about transportation, emergency numbers or simply to know where to go to make a copy of the keys or shopping, he will be at your disposal!

Signing up for this program is very simple:

1. Papaya can be accesed both through the app (you can download it safely from Google or Apple store) or the website.

2. Once you’ve downloaded and opened the app or gone to the previous website, you’ll be asked to register with your Google, Apple or Facebook account or by creating a new account with an email and a password. 

3. If you decide to register with Google, Apple or Facebook accounts, you will immediately be redirected to the page to create your profile.

  • If, instead, you want to create your profile, you will be redirected to a page where you will have to enter the ESN ASSI Parma Section, your country of origin and other basic information. 

4. Once this procedure has been completed, your registration request will be sent to ESN ASSI Parma, which may notify you of its acceptance or refusal. If the request is accepted you will receive the password to access Papaya.

5. Once logged in you can finally complete your profile by entering the information that will be useful to match you with your buddy:

·        Name and surname

·        Date of birth

·        Country of origin

·        Languages you speak

·        Field of study

·        Email address to receive the pairing notification

·        WhatsApp number (optional)

6. After saving the profile with the information above, you will access the main page of the application where you can subscribe to the Buddy System.

7. Finally you can wipe the sweat from your forehead and rest: now it’s up to ESN ASSI Parma to tell you the combination chosen for you!
