The University of Parma

Founded in 1117, the University of Parma (known familiarly as Unipr) is one of the oldest universities in the world. Today it is divided into several hubs: the Campus in the southern area of the city, which gathers all scientific faculties, and various Humanities, Economics, and Law hubs scattered in the beautiful buildings of the historic center.

The Departments

The University is divided into 9 main departments. Clicking on the names will take you to the corresponding website with all contacts and study plans:

Where are they?
In the Center: Humanities (Via d’Azeglio), Law (Via dell'Università), and Economics (Via Kennedy).
At the Campus: Departments 3, 5, 6, and 8.
Specific Hubs: Medicine at the "Ospedale Maggiore" and Veterinary Science in Via del Taglio.

Places to Study

Each department is equipped with its own library, but Parma also offers a network of Municipal Libraries that are very popular among students. Furthermore, in the warmer months, it is possible to alternate study with relaxation in the beautiful city parks: Parco Ducale and Parco della Cittadella.

Important Notes for Libraries:
Student Card: To access some facilities (such as the Economics library) you need the Student Card, to be collected at the International Office.
Book Catalog: Do you want to know where a book is? Use the Digital Library Catalog.

The University Online Platforms

The University provides two fundamental portals to manage your academic career (you need your University credentials to access them):

  • Esse3

The administrative portal. Here you can find your university transcript, check grades, register for exams, and pay fees.
  • Elly

The teaching portal. Divided by year and department, here professors upload slides, course materials, and lesson recordings.
