Some information on the Italian university system

  • Italy students are examined through written or oral tests and are evaluated on a scale ranging from 0 to 30, where 18 is the minimum grade to pass the exam.
  • The exams are scheduled in the "sessions" which, in general, are between December and February, between May and July and September.
  • In these periods, for each course, there are dates on which exams can be taken and these dates are called "appelli".
  • If you fail an exam or you are not satisfied with the result, you can refuse the mark and return the next appeal.
  • Finally, there are examsa that are divided into two parts to lighten the burden of study. In this case there will be two or more so-called partial tests that you can take also during the period of the lessons.

Finally, there is a tradition that those who get 30 buy drinks.
