112 - Single European Emergency Number

This is the most important number to remember. Call 112 for ANY major emergency (Police, Fire Department, or Ambulance). The operators can speak English and will connect you to the appropriate dispatch center immediately.

113 - State Police

Direct number to the State Police. Useful in the event of theft, assault, harassment, or loss of documents and credit cards.

118 - Ambulance

Direct number for medical emergencies requiring immediate treatment and transport to the hospital.

Guardia Medica (Out-of-Hours Medical Service)

This is a night and weekend service for urgent but not life-threatening medical issues (when standard clinics are closed). Doctors can perform check-ups and prescribe medicines.

  • Location: Ospedale Maggiore. You can reach the hospital by taking bus number 5 or 7.

Duty Pharmacies (Farmacie di Turno)

If a doctor prescribes you medicine during the night or on a holiday, standard pharmacies will be closed. You must find an open "Duty Pharmacy" (Farmacia di Turno).
